Modulus

I’ve long been fascinated by lighting design, especially when it comes to the manipulation of light and the effect that it can have on a space. Moving and changing how a light interacts with a room is a simple way to drastically alter one’s perception of the space, and yet most lighting fixtures are static and unchanging.

With Modulus, I wanted to change that. I wanted to create a fixture that was designed to be altered and interacted with. So, I set about designing a modular room light that could do just that.

AutoStim

The goal of this project was to create an active monitoring system that can minimize or prevent anxiety-related symptoms by building a detailed and accurate baseline of a user’s autonomic indicators, and automatically responding when these indicators rise above that baseline. This response took the form of two stimuli, temperature and vibration. The temperature stimulus is manipulated using a Peltier cooler, while the vibration stimulus is manipulated using a network of small vibration motors controlled by a common driver.
